Patterns Cloud — Terms of Service
Effective date: August 30, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern access to and use of Patterns Cloud, the self-serve, hosted version of the Patterns platform, provided by Patterns AI Inc. ("Patterns," "we," "us"). By creating an account or using Patterns Cloud, you agree to these Terms.
These Terms apply to Patterns Cloud (self-serve) only. Enterprise customers are governed by a separately negotiated agreement, not this document.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction, to use Patterns Cloud. If you're using Patterns Cloud on behalf of a company or other organization, you're confirming you have the authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
2. Your Account
You're responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. Let us know immediately if you suspect unauthorized access. We support multi-factor authentication and social sign-on — we'd encourage you to use one of them.
3. The Service
Patterns Cloud records workflow activity to generate process maps and documentation, using one of two capture modes you select:
- Metadata-only — records that an interaction occurred and what kind of element it occurred on, without recording what was typed, displayed, or copied.
- Full capture — additionally records field values, on-screen text, and clipboard content.
How this data is stored, anonymized, and retained is described in our Privacy Policy and Cloud Security page, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Patterns Cloud for any unlawful purpose, or in a way that violates any applicable law or regulation
- Use full-capture mode, or any capture mode, on any individual without providing all notices and obtaining all consents required by applicable law — including workplace electronic-monitoring, wiretapping, and privacy laws in your jurisdiction and the jurisdiction of the individuals being monitored
- Use Patterns Cloud to capture, process, or store information you don't have the legal right to collect — including another party's confidential information, health information, or payment card data
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or access the underlying code or models of the platform, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits this despite this restriction
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the service, or attempt to gain unauthorized access to it
- Use the service to build a competing product, or to benchmark it for that purpose, without our written consent
- Resell or sublicense access to the service without our written consent
You are solely responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to monitor and capture the activity of any individual using Patterns Cloud, including your own employees or contractors. This includes providing any legally required notice, obtaining any required consent, and complying with employee-monitoring, wiretapping, and data protection laws applicable to you. Patterns is a tool; you are the one directing what it records and about whom.
5. Fees
- Free tier. Each organization may connect up to 3 devices to Patterns Cloud at no cost. There is no free trial beyond this — the 3-device allowance is ongoing, not time-limited. We may revoke or reduce the free-tier device allowance at any time, without notice.
- Additional devices. Each device connected beyond the 3 included per organization is billed at USD $49.99 per billing cycle, under your selected plan below. If your organization adds devices during an active term, those additional devices will be billed accordingly from the time they're added, regardless of when your current billing term started.
- Monthly plan. Billed month-to-month.
- Yearly plan. Billed annually. The price in effect when you purchase or renew a yearly plan is locked in for the full term, even if we change our pricing during that term. This lock-in applies to your base subscription; devices added mid-term are billed at the rate in effect when they're added.
- Price changes. We may change our pricing at any time, at our sole discretion. If we do, we'll provide at least 30 days' notice before the change takes effect. A price change applies to future billing cycles and to new device connections going forward — it does not affect a yearly plan already locked in for its current term.
6. Intellectual Property
- Your data. You retain ownership of the data you submit to Patterns Cloud and the process maps, summaries, and outputs generated from it.
- Our platform. We own the Patterns platform, software, and all associated intellectual property. These Terms don't grant you any rights to our IP beyond the right to use the service as intended.
- License to us. You grant us a limited license to process your data solely to provide, maintain, and improve the service, as described in our Privacy Policy. We do not use your captured workflow data to train AI models on behalf of anyone other than you.
7. Third-Party Services
Patterns Cloud relies on third-party infrastructure and AI providers — currently Amazon Web Services and Google's Gemini API — to operate. Your use of Patterns Cloud is also subject to the extent those providers' own terms govern the underlying infrastructure, though your relationship for billing and support purposes remains with us.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
Patterns Cloud is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the extent permitted by applicable law. We don't warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Patterns and its officers, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of Patterns Cloud.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of Patterns Cloud will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or (b) USD $100.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where doing so isn't permitted by applicable law (for example, liability for gross negligence, willful misconduct, or death or personal injury caused by our negligence, in jurisdictions where such limitations are unenforceable).
10. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold Patterns harmless from any claim, loss, or damage (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your use of Patterns Cloud in violation of these Terms; (b) your failure to obtain any consent or provide any notice required to lawfully capture the activity of individuals using the service; or (c) your violation of any law or third-party right.
We will indemnify you against third-party claims that the Patterns platform itself, as provided by us, infringes that party's intellectual property rights, subject to customary carve-outs (e.g., modifications you made, or use in combination with something we didn't provide).
11. Termination
You may stop using Patterns Cloud and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, or with 30 days' notice for any other reason. On termination, your right to use the service ends; data handling on termination is described in our Privacy Policy.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll notify you by email or through the platform. Continued use of Patterns Cloud after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of Patterns Cloud will be brought exclusively in the courts located in Ontario, Canada, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.
Business use. Patterns Cloud is provided for business and organizational use. By accepting these Terms, you represent that you're acquiring the service for business purposes and not primarily for personal, family, or household use.
Class action waiver. To the extent permitted by applicable law, any dispute must be brought on an individual basis, and not as part of any class, consolidated, or representative action.
14. General
- Entire agreement. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, are the entire agreement between you and Patterns regarding Patterns Cloud.
- Severability. If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- No waiver. Our failure to enforce a provision isn't a waiver of our right to do so later.
- Assignment. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
- Force majeure. We're not liable for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
